“大忘杠”是主创宋雨喆小时候从姥爷嘴里听到的一组无明确意义的音节，乐评人张晓舟对此评价：“名字无意义而有趣味，生生不息。”由这名字酝育出的音乐关乎自由，激情，无名之朴，神格人格时而互换，思维血脉同大地山川一块儿震颤活络。
就像它的名字，大忘杠乐队的确是一个与众不同的乐队，光看那些只闻其声不识其物的乐器——诗琴、半筝、八弦班卓、口弦、曼达琴等就足够让观众猜上一猜。不仅如此，吉他、鼓、古筝、马头琴与萨克斯的非常规组合，加上主唱宋雨喆那些或拟声、或啸叫、或吆喝、或低吟的独特发声，世间万象在他们的演奏中交互隐现。
大忘杠一直都致力于在同一主题下将不同音乐类型、不同音乐背景乐手之间的自由交流，创造出各种各样的声音可能性。大忘杠乐队依情况从三重奏到几十人的交响乐团都有可能，成员由常驻乐手与嘉宾乐手组成，他们来自不同国家和民族，这使得大忘杠既有乐队的属性，同时又具备一个拥有创新精神团体的概念。
这种“不同音乐类型，不同音乐背景乐手”的融合让大忘杠乐队的音乐呈现出了简约而丰富的特性，风格上涵盖了传统民族乐、摇滚乐、现代交响乐……吸取消化民族音乐资源，又擦去这些刻板的符号，被欧洲媒体认为“有必要创造一个词来形容”。

“DaWangGang”，the name does not present any significant meaning, SONG’s music has also open to anything but still in mysterious. Don't surprising that his song has a strange feeling and taken in unusual directions, just stick with it though and it pays off.
There is much roots music to discover, with powerful elements from the traditions of different types of music. “DaWangGang” covers world music, folk music, experimental rock etc. It is difficult to define the style, it needs to create a word of the definitions.
