Alcest来自法国，成立于2000年，由乐队主脑、主唱兼吉他手 Neige 和Winterhalter 组成。他们的音乐集诗意与黑暗为一体， 常常被贴上black metal、shoegaze或Blackgaze（自赏黑）的标签, 更被视为这些领域的翘楚。国内乐迷更创造了一个独特的词语—— “Romantic Black Metal ”（浪漫主义黑金），用来形容Alcest 的音乐。
从2005年推出令人惊艳的首张EP《Le Secret》开始，Alcest陆续推出了 《Souvenirs D'Un Autre Monde》(2007)，《Écailles De Lune》(2010) 和《Les Voyages De L'Ame》(2012)。《Shelter》（2014）等多张经典之作。 Alcest的音乐仿佛来自另外一个世界，一个真实却超越我们存在，无法被感官感知的奇妙世界。一个没有痛苦、疾病、悲伤，只有深深的平静和难以言喻的极乐世界。
作为黑金属的革新者，Alcest最为人称道的是将流畅的木吉他声线融入金属风格之中。 继上一张曲风清新、带有自赏风格的专辑《Shelter》之后，Alcest于2016年推出了风格较为黑暗的第五张专辑《Kodama》。 如果说上张专辑展现出Alcest少有的阳光面，那么这张《Kodama》则正式宣告，最初那个黑暗金属风格的Alcest又回来了。
"Kodama"源于日语，有着两重含义 —— “树木精灵”和“回声”。从专辑的架构和旋律来看，这张专辑正好呼应了Alcest在2010年发布的经典之作《Écailles De Lune》（月之鳞），但这却不是一张简单的回归本源之作：《Kodama》中的作品更具有猛烈的攻击性，更富于节奏感，同时带给人回归自然之感。Alcest 在创作初期曾受到The Smashing Pumpkins, Dinosaur Jr, Grimesand The Cure等乐队的影响，《Kodama》完全可以被视作Alcest 的第一张“日语专辑”，因为他从日本的文化和艺术中获得了大量的灵感和素材。
《Kodama》的灵感源于日本动画大师宫崎骏的代表作品《幽灵公主》。Kodama选取女主角有桑的命运作为主体，并将电影的主旨融入其中，讲述了人与自然间的剧烈冲突，归属感和家园的消失，以及精神世界和物质世界之间的关系。通过对Kodama这一人物的塑造，赋予alcest的新专辑以强烈的故事性和想象空间。流畅的旋律，充满想象力的故事情节，为整张专辑添加了一抹神秘的色彩，乐队希望在音乐之外，故事本身会以某种方式得到延续。成为alcest音乐生涯中的一个里程碑。
在过去的几年里，Alcest的作品影响了一众黑金、自赏乐队，被世界各地的乐迷所瞩目。在亚洲、欧洲、北美、甚至墨西哥、巴西、澳大利亚，alcest巡演所到之处都是一票难求。2017年4月，alcest将会带着这张洋溢着神秘的东方气息的专辑再度造访中国，带给乐迷们仿佛另一个世界的声音。

New Noise couldn’t be more excited to invite French blackgazers Alcest back to China to present their new masterpiece “Kodama”. Alcest has been widely praised for innovating metal music by adding translucent acoustic guitars, sky-shaking thunderheads of distortion, and tender, wispy harmonies. Their upcoming fifth album by Alcest marks the French duo's ferocious return to the epic and contrasted style of its early works while continuing the band's relentless pursuit for fresh ideas. Combining poetic elements with darker ones, that were not present in Alcest’s earlier works, “Kodama” manifests as an intense album, featuring a more organic, punchy sound and showcasing impulses from an array of different places.
Originally triggered by Hayao Miyazaki's anime film "Princess Mononoke", "Kodama" picks up on the fate of its protagonist and, at its core, deals with the sensation of not belonging; of living in between worlds, be it city and nature, the physical and spiritual one.
By giving the album a cultural, stylistic and compositional narrative, Neige and Winterhalter keep "Kodama" from just being the latest improvement on the Alcest sound and instead make the album a most rare and exciting thing: a vital, relevant record from a front runner that not only upholds the band's trailblazing legacy, but actually makes you want to see where they go next. This artfully crafted album brings back the band's darker mystique from their earlier work. It is cinematic in its execution and wildly imaginative throughout its entirety.
Over the years, Alcest influenced a lot of other artists and gained a significant popularity around the world, leading them to do sold-out tours all over Europe, North America, South America, Asia and Australia. This time Alcest will return to China and play 8 cities across the whole country to show that their music is from another world, a world that is real, but that exists beyond ours and cannot be grasped by our senses. A world where the soul knows neither pain nor sickness nor sorrow, but is filled with a deep peace and an ineffable bliss.
