The Notwist来自德国，成立于1989年。乐队最初以Post-Hardcore、Post Punk风格见长，后期风格逐渐转向Indie-pop和 Indie Electronic 。自1990年乐队发行首张同名专辑《The Notwist》开始，The Notwist 一直活跃于欧洲的独立音乐圈，获得无数赞誉，成为当时德国最重要的独立乐队。乐队多次参与欧洲各大音乐节，并签约传奇独立音乐厂牌Subpop 和Morr Music。

自从1995年的《12》开始，The Notwist显出了一份从硬核朋克向更广领域进军的决心，在杂乱无章的吉他轰鸣下，男主音用慵懒颓靡嗓音勾勒出简单迷人的旋律与噪音背景相抗衡。

乐队在2002年发行的经典专辑《Neon Golden》被广泛誉为欧洲最经典的独立专辑之一，并获得Pitchfork 选出的“年度最佳专辑”之称。在纽约传奇唱片行Other Music 2016年评选的史上销量最高的100张唱片中, The Notwist 的《Neon Golden》与Belle and Sebastian、Yo La Tengo、Elliott Smith、Tortoise等乐队的作品共同入选，位列33位。

专辑中的《Consequence》更成为乐队最具有代表性的作品之一，Youtube 上的翻唱版本多达30多个。2009年，《Consequence》被美国导演Paul McGuigan（保罗·麦奎根）执导的科幻电影《Push》(异能) 收录为插曲，让The Notwist被更多中国观众所熟知。

这张《Neon Golden》里，人们可听到乐队历时数年脱胎换骨的蜕变，极具兼容性的将Sonic Youth的噪音艺术融进主唱的Indie-Pop唱腔和流畅的旋律中。管弦乐，碎拍电子和富有想象力的打击乐以及空间感的吉他则将The Notwist 打造成横跨Inide pop，Folk，Post-rock，Indie Electronic等多个领域的全能乐队。今年正是《Neon Golden》发行15周年，一直不断探索新音乐领域的The Notwist将迎来他们首次中国巡演。

The Notwist的创作历程充满了颠覆，他们的音乐结合了电子节奏与脉冲律动，原声乐器混合数字采样和电音循环，配上主唱Markus Acher标志性的冷峻唱腔，The Notwist成为欧洲独立电音的先锋。他们的音乐让人沉醉，漫游在无边的遐想中，被乐曲嵌含的精密纹理与细腻结构所攫住。

2009年， The Notwist与Andromeda Mega Express交响乐团完成了一系列名为“Rock Meets Classical”的跨界音乐会。The Notwist将自己过往的经典作品进行重新编曲，与20多人的弦乐团合作，在德国汉堡、慕尼黑、以及英国伦敦等地举办了5场令人叹为观止的音乐会。

2014年，成军15年的The Notwist推出了第九张录音室专辑《Close To The Glass》。专辑彰显出The Notwist对于不同音乐风格的完美掌控。柔美的民谣底蕴加上Techno、Glitch独立电音，甚至还混杂着早期的Grunge摇滚遗风。

2015年的专辑《Messier Objects》则转向更为冷峻的实验电子风格。以数字编号组成的音乐标题，极简的电子节拍，风格各异的数字采样，勾勒出如同未来世界一般的声音奇景。人们在惊叹于The Notwist充沛的创作力之余，更敬佩他们在音乐创作上的做出的尝试和革新。
