“荒湖”高高坐落于内华达山脉之间，在 Alpine Decline 穿梭于北京与洛杉矶间的城市探险中，这座湖泊犹如一座灵炉，锻造了他们的音乐。在迷宫般的冰川湖群间，乐队的核心二人曾谋划着作为伴侣和乐人的未来，此地融化了灵性的雪封，不仅塑造了彼时的他们，也一直指引着夫妻俩的今天。

不过，所谓的“重返”并非对过往的搜寻。不光是我们，就连 Alpine Decline 自己也对这张专辑感到陌生。它也不是一张“加利福尼亚唱片”——即便二人远赴中国首都七年后，在2016年底回到了洛杉矶。“对于每况愈下的未来，每个人都有着渐强的恐惧感，我们觉得可以把我们的唱片看成是产生于近未来，并会在遥远的时空里被发掘的文物，”他们这样说。

乐队一度痴迷于铺张的磁带混响所创造的混沌，这种雾一般的质感，在一定程度上体现了乐队前期几张专辑的一致性。《重返荒湖》则避开了这一点，是一张安静的专辑。多年来，乐队穿过浓厚的氛围和朦胧的锯齿波，任人声在风中撕裂，将鼓点封装扔进大海。终于，一种更为普遍和有形的迷惑将乐队领至新的起点。在这里，他们一边螺旋下降，一边更自信、悦耳，也更悲伤地歌唱。

《重返荒湖》弱化了失真，更加真实和自然——渲染少，感染多。清亮真切的吉他和有力稳健的鼓击在歌曲中相互渗透，日臻进化的模块合成器锦上添花，将二者恰到好处地统一在一起。才华的余烬总是暗藏在迷雾之下，但在《重返荒湖》中，Alpine Decline 的紧凑歌词和作曲才能则以毫无掩饰的方式呈现在我们眼前。前置的人声让这一团美妙的综合体显得更加亲切，每次相逢，他们都像是用手掌扣住了你的耳朵，为其灌入舒缓的歌声。

《重返荒湖》是一次精神上的化冻，是万物温柔破裂的声音，是灌录至唱片中的高山窒息症，是涨潮般涌入大脑的凛冽。它既个人又公开，每次凑耳细听都会发掘无尽的宝藏。

位于深圳活跃的Indie Pop乐队，组建在16年5月，6月发行了一张包含4首demo的磁带，名字取自Sarah Records旗下Heavenly的一张同名单曲，从16年8月到11月他们写了一些听起来差不多的歌，送给他们的朋友还有他们喜欢的人们。

Decompose to recompose - Alpine Decline returns with another high-altitude long player of overexposed psych/indie beatitudes, their first since moving back to their home base of Los Angeles. Return to Desolation Lake is the band's most tuneful and rueful collection yet - carefully, painfully rendered melodies for today's maladies.

I Alpine Decline is a guitar+drums duo that relocated from Los Angeles to Beijing in 2010, attracted by the city’s brimming underground music scene. The band’s sound touches the nostalgic sweet spot for fans of psych, shoegaze, noise rock and ’90s indie, without sounding too much like any of those.

Over the last few years, Alpine Decline has spawned a side project (under the same name), in which the core duo explores sound design/destruction via their ever-growing Eurorack modular synth system. Performing live as a duo on nothing besides their humming, haunting synths, Alpine Decline explores a totally different sonic terrain, swapping melody and beat for a deep-scrub gray matter massage better experienced while seated.
