Gotsu Totsu Kotsu
Formed in 2000, Gotsu Totsu Kotsu is a Japanese Death Metal band and their name is from a Chinese novel called“Three Kingdoms”. The band themselves have samurai-related themes in their music since they have formed. One can feel the solemnness of a samurai who died as a martyr and the brutality on the battlefield throughout their works. These unique immersive feelings have made them a well-known band in Death Metal’s world. Their fans have recognized them as one of the most important bands.
Gotsu Totsu Kotsu are expert at employing fast basslines, powerful guitar and aggressive drumming, vividly picturing a strong, bold samurai. Impressively, though they don’t use any traditional Japanese instrument, gallant samurai spirit is deep inside their works. The band use minimal instruments to create extremely dynamic music. With heavy vocal and a great many bass solos, their unforgettable character is more and more obvious.
Despite the smoky battlefield, the music of Gotsu Totsu Kotsu is related to Buddhism. “Retributive Justice”, the third album of the band, directly shows their contemplation of war, massacre and so-called justice, making the fans feel the charm of their unique belief in the heart of their creation.
