有人说，他们听上去就像The Jesus and Mary Chain和The Velvet Underground的结合：既有钉鞋的迷幻噪音元素，又有简洁的lo-fi之美。

始终坚持着自主的「DIY」精神

法国新浪潮电影、贾木许、黑白复古，是他们的美学元素

来自英国的他们，今年三月首度来华！

“The Underground Youth是一个音乐之谜。他们的音乐就像有什么魔力，让我一听到他们的时候就马上停止手上的事情，变得突然很感伤。”

The Underground Youth成立于2008年，签约伦敦著名独立厂牌Fuzz Club Records, 乐队所有的词曲创作、编曲制作、录音都是由主脑Craig Dyer一个人完成的，Craig Dyer的妻子Olya Dyer在乐队担任鼓手。

 Craig Dyer来自英国曼彻斯特，是DIY精神的忠实信徒，他的音乐创作还在极大程度上受到了文学和电影的影响。Craig Dyer热爱写诗，在十七岁的时候，他写了他的第一本诗集，其中有一首诗的名字便叫做“Underground Youth”. 因受到偶像Bob Dylan的影响，Craig Dyer诞生了一种强烈的欲望——赋予自己的诗歌以音符旋律，于是，The Underground Youth便成立了。

The Underground Youth以他们诗意、具有现代文学色彩的歌词著名。这自然要归功于主脑Craig Dyer了，如歌曲“The Rules of Attraction”中的大胆浪漫歌词：“畅饮一杯威士忌/然后丢弃那个眉头烦恼/杀死市长/然后离开小镇/将那个小丑埋没在金色的浴缸里/然后用铁棍击败国王/再将罪名嫁祸于暴徒手中/或把它归咎于一些莫名的药物/戏谑社会的界限/挑战权威的极限/但，宝贝，我会给你安全/因为我爱你。”

The Underground Youth的Olya Dyer是这么简单描述他们的音乐的：“粗糙的忧郁后朋再加上一点迷幻色彩。”

The Underground Youth显著的特点是：既有粗犷失真的噪音墙，又有lo-fi音色带梦幻色彩的bedroom-pop小曲，前者不禁令人想起英国八九十年代那一系列传奇钉鞋乐队，而后者则像Cigarettes After Sex床头慵懒的朦胧仙气，令人称道的是，两者的结合无比和谐，自成风格。还有一点，这点连The Underground Youth成员也承认了：他们听上去更像是老派乐队，或者说是从上世纪穿越而来的。Craig Dyler曾透露，他其实特别着迷于黑暗元素的梦、恐怖的噩梦和自己的情感。

Craig Dyer试图达到一种目的——“一种诗歌、电影音符具象化的音乐”。听The Underground Youth的音乐，令我想到戈达尔镜头下的Anna Karina在巴黎街角穿着黑色过膝大衣勇敢大笑、敢爱敢恨的画面，还会令我想起垮掉派诗人在清晨的曼哈顿公寓阳台宿醉后发呆的侧影。而你，会从The Underground Youth的音乐中得到什么样的电影式画面呢？

一对夫妻在同一支乐队里，The Underground Youth并不是唯一一支。如Sonic Youth的Thurston Moore和Kim Gordon, Luna的Dean Wareham和Britta Phillips和Arcade Fire的Win Butler和Régine Chassagne. 当被问到与自己的丈夫在同一支乐队是什么感受时，Olya Dyer表示：“好处自然很明显，有一个人可以和你分享在路上的所有有趣的体验。缺点？我一个也想不出来。”而当记者问道他们：“假如Craig和Olya吵架，谁最有可能赢？”时，Craig无奈地耸耸肩答道：“Olya, 毫无疑问。” 而一谈到Craig热爱的电影和文学的时候，Craig便忍不住开始滔滔不绝：”从去年开始，我阅读了大量的俄国文学，其实我们的新专辑就在很大程度上受到了布尔加科夫和陀思妥耶夫斯基的影响。我的妻子给我介绍了很多西伯利亚文学，毕竟那是她出生长大的地方。自从搬到德国柏林以来，我也重新回顾了很多德国导演的作品，尤其是文德斯和法斯宾德，在我们新专辑的最后一首歌里，就引用了文德斯的德州巴黎。’’

The Underground Youth算是一支高产乐队，成军十年之余，就已经发布了7张录音室专辑和3张EP。最重要的是，在2019年三月，The Underground Youth会发行他们的最新录音室专辑——“Montage Images Of Lust & Fear”，并将在三月份的巡演与广大中国歌迷现场一同分享！不容错过！

The Underground Youth is a British band based in Manchester, their music touches on different genres including psychedelia and garage rock. The band is led by Craig Dyer whose musical influences include The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Velvet Underground, the ballads and writing style of Bob Dylan and the noise of The Jesus & Mary Chain. In 2012, after signing to Fuzz Club, The Underground Youth fleshed out to a full band including Dyer’s wife and celebrated artist Olya Dyer on drums. Since then the group have been touring relentlessly, playing sold-out shows all over Europe and landing significant spots on some of Europe’s biggest psych festivals including Levitation france, Cosmosis, Liverpool Psych Fest and Eindhoven Psych Lab.
