人作为群居动物，好处是活着可以随大流，坏处是活着活着就容易随大流而去。所谓“走窄门的人”为什么有福了？翻译成中国人能听懂的话，即“独善其身”。

随大流者亦可，或顺势而为，或身不由已。逝者如斯夫，日夜不息，而妄想弄潮之人也迟早会被滚滚大势挟裹。谓大势者：欲望的结合。许多人同时挤着过同一道门，就必然发生淤堵坍塌。于是，走窄门的能力成了必要。

窄门者，即“一身过”。要去什么地方，干什么事，手脚都在身上。要做的，就是找到门路。余七岁学艺，近三十载倏忽而过，先武后琴，再武再琴，盖此一门也！

乐人者，不事劳务者也。不事劳务事什么？社会白养着吗？非也，乐人者事人心，人之心者谓之神；乙巳年小巡为的是新唱片的打磨预热。窄门一过，悲歌即来，万籁俱寂，不舍欢唱。

As social beings, our advantage lies in moving with the crowd—it keeps us alive. But therein lies the danger: in going with the flow, we may be swept away by it. Why, then, are those who choose the “narrow gate” said to be blessed? In terms more familiar to a Chinese ear—it’s about maintaining one’s integrity in solitude.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with following the crowd. Sometimes it’s strategic, sometimes it’s inevitable. But time flows endlessly, and those who naively try to ride the wave of every trend will, sooner or later, be carried away by the tide. And what is this “tide”? It is the collective force of desire. When too many try to squeeze through the same wide gate, blockage and collapse become inevitable. That’s when the ability to find and walk the narrow gate becomes essential.

To walk the narrow gate is to pass through alone, by your own strength. Where you go and what you do—your hands and feet are your own. The task is simply to find the way. I began my training at seven—nearly thirty years have flown by since. First martial arts, then music, then back again—this, too, is a gate I’ve walked.

A musician is not a laborer in the conventional sense. Does that mean society supports us for nothing? Hardly. A musician works on the human spirit—and the human spirit is divine.
This short tour in the year of Yisi is for refining and preparing a new record. Once through the narrow gate, a sorrowful song awaits. As the world falls into silence, we cannot help but sing.
