As a Russian band, Pompeya is the complete opposite of what you'd imagine from the freezing far north. Their nostalgic yet modern sound is always dreamlike: the elegance of 70s disco, the vibrant energy of 80s new-wave pop, a warm and languid atmosphere, and crisp guitar riffs—all blended together, drifting through the air like smoke. They bring to mind sun-drenched road movies, Stranger Things, and Life Is Strange, rather than brutalist architecture or the icy echoes of Russian post-punk as people often describe.
