2016年，柳絮纷飞的季节，布衣乐队全新专辑《21号公路》正式面世。这张耗时近一年、辗转中美两地、首次通过“同期+模拟”录音制作的专辑，凝聚了布衣乐队所有成员的心血，是真正的、来自布衣的“化学反应”。
布衣历来不拘泥于特定风格，新专辑《21号公路》既有中国西北部漫天风沙的味道，更融合了来自美国西部的空旷感、牛仔般的洒脱和狂野感。不管快歌慢歌，吉他和鼓的音色都是那么粗粝、慵懒。把人带到了得克萨斯州那种笔直伸向远方的公路上，正切《21号公路》的主题。
一直以来，在摇滚乐的命题里，“公路”都是一个深刻的哲学意象。它从过去微小的初始铺开，延伸至永无穷尽的未来，聚焦于现在这个重要的点，从而衍生出几个连带的印象——脚印、云、野花、天边。这些公路边的风景就是人之存在的意义。《21号公路》里的几首歌曲恰好握住了这几个意象，于是整个专辑的精神内核格外突出且统一。
《荒野》中行进军鼓前奏向我们正式揭开布衣的“21号公路”之旅；
改编自张子选诗作《牧羊姑娘》的《怎么办》是专辑内的第一首慢歌，“怎么办？知道你在世上，不知道你在哪条路上。”；
悠扬的琴声和轻快的律动，男女声交替地哼唱着《未来》，好似路途中邂逅的朋友向你诉说他的故事；
主打歌《21号公路》有着美国大片的即视感，21年的布衣，整理行装，继续上路；
来自录音师Michael Rey de Leon的突发奇想，让所有工作人员参与进来，有了《院子》前奏懒洋洋的哼唱，像在院子里乘凉的老朋友有一搭没一搭地聊着天；
美好的时光总是短暂，总是《等不及告别就要出发》，踏上新的旅途，奔向更好的时光；
《莲花》的前奏满满的美国西部空旷感，歌词却透着满满的中国味道，值得反复聆听；
《花》是一首情歌，没有华丽的辞藻，却听得人潸然泪下，经得住平淡流年的才是真正的爱情，这是属于布衣的简单朴实；
21号公路也有终点，随布衣到一个干净清澈的地方，洗净满脸的风尘，让心好好歇歇，一起坐看风起云涌…
在这个快餐时代，在几乎不会赚钱的CD上能如此下心思的独立乐队真的是凤毛麟角，而对音乐一直恪守自己严格标准的布衣必然是其中之一。专辑《21号公路》采用了“同期+模拟”的录音方式，每首歌都是一次性录制完成，完全记录了乐队当时的状态，在听觉上会给所有人带来身临其境的现场感，感受音乐一气呵成的酣畅。一些小小的瑕疵则更是乐队在音乐中真实而自然的状态体现。这种看似粗糙的表象亦能恰如其分地烘托出“公路”这个音乐核心。粗粝、坚韧、一往无前。

The pioneer of Northwest original music in China. Established in Ningxia Province in 1995, Buyi possesses distinct national characteristics of North China. They have varied musical styles with genuine lyrics, for which, since the establishment of the band, they have been continuously active on domestic and international stages, and were invited to various international music events, including the Asia Rock & Roll Forum in Japan, Hohaiyan Rock Festival in Taipei. They produced interludes for several movies and TV serious, including Crazy Stone and Big Movie. CNN once produced a documentary on Chinese independent rock bands with Buyi as protagonist. Buyi is their name, which also indicates their life style—simple, free, sincere and determined. As a band with 19 years of history since its establishment, Buyi eliminated the fickleness and rebellion that existing in most rock bands. People will not see in them any decadence or depression, but more clear, free and natural essence. Listening to their music, it feels like sometimes strolling on magnificent roads, sometimes flying on boundless sky, sometimes lying on breezed grassland cozily with the love of your life.
Official released albums: That Long, 2 CDs album Buyi + Autumn, cassette Buyi, Live CD+DVD Endless Wine, EP Naer of Buyi, and the latest album in 2013 Departure. Departure was independently produced and released by the band itself, more focusing on various parts of the band—including its members, instruments, matching and collaboration between timbers, containing different styles of catchy songs.
Buyi has been continuously devoted into environmental protection and public welfare activities. They set a fixed part of the royalty as donation to “For Kids in Ningxia” foundation, and organized many themed performances such as “Every Kid Has Candy to Eat” and “Every Kid Has Water to Drink”. They participated in the activity of “Global Light Out Hour” that was held by China National Radio. They also helped establishing a rock band in Dandelion School—the first rural labor high school in China.
