Norwegian trumpet player, composer, and producer Nils Petter Molvær takes multiple music styles such as jazz, ambient, house, electronic and break beats, as well as elements from hip hop, rock and pop music, and effortlessly reshapes them into unique and dramatic soundscapes of deep intensity.
His remarkable ease in handling the often-contrary conventions of pop, rock, funk, and modern jazz ensured a strong interest in both acoustic and electric music. This chameleon-like ability soon established him as a much sought-after musician in Oslo, which ultimately led to a colourful and diverse curriculum vitae as a sideman. A trumpet that knows how to capture both the polar ice caps and the burning desert sand, that can portray surging crowds just as well as total solitude, that loses itself but always finds the way back again.
Molvær stretches himself out at will in time and space, subjecting himself to the new technology of the moment to give ever-new expression to his timelessly unbridled romanticism. During his time with acclaimed jazz combo, Masqualero, Molvær was introduced to Manfred Eicher, who welcomed him into his prestigious and much-lauded roster. Alongside the three ECM Masqualero releases, Molvær recorded many classic studio sessions for ECM with artists such as Robyn Schulkowsky, Marilyn Mazur, Jon Balke's Oslo 13, and Sidsel Endresen. But it was 1997's Khmer—released on ECM—that shifted the axis. A landmark release, Khmer gained critical acclaim beyond jazz circles and prefigured the genre-fluidism that dominates much of today's instrumental music. It remains one of ECM's most commercially successful and influential releases, frequently cited as a watershed for jazz's evolution in the digital age, and established Molvær's reputation as one of the leading voices of the new European jazz movement of the 90s.
Over the following decades, Molvær has built a body of work that resists categorisation. Albums like Solid Ether, np3, Baboon Moon, and Buoyancy maintain a through-line of melodic restraint and sonic curiosity, with trumpet lines that often feel more like whispers or warnings than declarations. He has collaborated widely—with Bill Laswell, Moritz von Oswald, Sly & Robbie, and Eivind Aarset—yet his sound is unmistakably his own. In live performance, he's become known for immersive, often cinematic shows where sound design plays as crucial a role as improvisation.
Molvær has his own very individual sound, influenced as much by the poetry of Scandinavian nature as by electronic calculation, and last but not least by colleagues like Miles Davis and Jon Hassell. But more than anything else, Molvær has himself. Listening to him play, it's easy to forget that his instrument is a trumpet.

Erland Dahlen is one of Norway's most distinct and innovative percussionists. With a style that bridges acoustic craftsmanship and electronic experimentation. Dahlen is a sonic architect whose creative palette extends from deep cinematic textures to sharply rhythmic avant-jazz and ambient noise.
A prolific session and touring musician, he has contributed to more than 280 albums and collaborated with artists such as Nils Petter Molvær, Eivind Aarset, Madrugada, Ane Brun, Kaada, and Geir Sundstøl. His rhythmic vocabulary is instantly recognizable—drawing from jazz, post-rock, folk, and contemporary classical influences, often shaped through custom-made or unconventional percussive tools.
As a solo artist, Dahlen has released five critically acclaimed albums: Rolling Bomber, Blossom Bells, Clocks, Bones, and Racoons. These releases show his mastery of creating narrative musical landscapes using instruments such as log drums, waterphone, tuned gongs, bowed cymbals, and analog drum machines, along with a complex layering of electronics and field recordings.
