Effects Unit
Bass Drum
This is an ever-changing, fascinating duo. Quirky Guzheng and spiritual flute as the backbones, the two artists would randomly utilize all kinds of instruments and sound devices as they wish to stroll in the musical heavens, sometimes tearing down the atmosphere, and sometimes refilling it.
Their music may sound like a spell, a password, or perhaps a tongue-twister: ben ben bo bo, bo ben, bo ben bo, ben ba, bo ba, bo ba… Let’s care not and carry on the “ben bo”ing.

Lao Dan
Lao Dan has been playing flutes for more than two decades. His musical primer was saxophone, and he later dedicated himself to Dizi (Chinese bamboo flute).
He has his own unique understanding on the methods and techniques of performing Dizi, and focuses on the artistry and freedom in his articulation. He is also a great fan of free improvisation on saxophones, often shining his artistic charisma with frenzy, rapid blowing, howling and unconstrained playing. His works always bring about a musical experience of antiquity-modernity synthesis.
Lao Dan has been working extensively with artists worldwide in recent years. The American record label Family Vineyard has released one of Lao Dan's live recordings, on which they comments: “Dan's voice is starkly unique, even among the blurred lines of international Improv/Jazz. He's steeped in native traditions yet eagerly obliterates those boundaries with ecstatic intensity and haunting melodies.”
