在爵士乐、前卫摇滚与自由即兴等诸多音乐分身背后，老丹首先是一位竹笛演奏者。

老丹与笛子的因缘自十三岁开始。在二十几年如一日的日常练习中，这种人与乐器的朴素关系塑造了他一以贯之的审美意趣，并在高度自觉的声音探索中不断蜕变、焕发新生。作为笛手，老丹始终与雅乐正统保持着距离，又一次次反身而成，用个人化的独特语汇重述中国民乐的风骨。

在第七届 OCT-LOFT 国际爵士音乐节“竹笛的多种可能性”专场九年之后，老丹再一次带来全新的竹笛独奏。这是一场阶段性的创作回顾，也将是新求索的一次起航。

For all his ventures into jazz, progressive rock, and free improvisation, Lao Dan is, at heart, a Dizi (Chinese bamboo flute) player.

His relationship with the flute began at thirteen. Through decades of daily practice, this straightforward bond between him and his instrument has shaped a consistent aesthetic—one that has constantly evolved and renewed itself through a keen, self-aware exploration of sound. As a flutist, Lao Dan has always steered clear of the classical establishment, yet time and again he reinvents himself, recasting the spirit of Chinese folk music in his own deeply personal musical language.

Nine years after his solo concert "The Many Possibilities of the Bamboo Flute" at the 7th OCT‑LOFT Jazz Festival, Lao Dan returns with an entirely new flute solo. It is both a retrospective of his creative journey so far and a launching point for what lies ahead.
